A Helping Hand?

I'm quite sure this isn't a new idea. And I know there are arguments against, with regards to avoiding being patronizing. Which is important. However, I can't yhelp but feel that the sybmbol for accessibility (the stick fella in a wheel chair), is a little out dated, not not very 'inclusive'.

So what about something LIKE this.

Not this, cos its crap. I mocked it up in a minute or two just now. But to me an out streched hand symbolizes assistive services better than the stick guy.

Thoughts?....

Cheers

I'm glad you recognized that it was bad before I had to say something.
I don't mind the guy with the wheelchair so much, but I think you may be right. A hand might be much better – and certainly less discriminatory. Not that, though, there's anything wrong with a wheelchair! That might be the wrong mindset to start with – as if there's something insulting about a wheelchair?
But this does definitely have something about it. I think it's a pretty good idea.

The man on wheelchair is more like a symbol for HEALTH AIDE or CHARITY. But when I saw your proposed image for HELPING HAND it made me think. Isn’t that similar to what other companies used to symbolize BUSINESS or PARTNERSHIP? Also, it seems not-so-artistic because you presented it LITERALLY. Oh well this is just my own opinion. I’m not a pro in things like this but have been working on some AVATARS and LOGOS for years.
